Help! Is Impasto Impossible!? Recipes?

HELP! We're studying Van Gogh and his heavy, thick, distinct, brushstrokes. I really want to make impasto for my students, scrape it on in a picture form, then paint over when dry. RECIPE?! HELP! What to use to make large amounts! Anyone out there with ideas? And it needs to be in expensive in large amounts:) Help soon!:)

If you can get ahold of some modeling paste, it would probably work the best. I experimented with mixing plaster powder and glue to make a texture goop that my students drew in with their fingers. I didn't get it perfect but it has potential. Good luck!

Oooo. Hey that might be something to try! I'm going to have an experiment today! I have some flour, glue and some sand. I"m going to try it.

HEY! I think Just be mixing glue with flour (enough flour so it's really thick, works!

Welcome to Miss Oetken's Art Room and talented ARTISTS!

You know the great artist Pablo Picasso once said these very profound words: "Every child is an artist. The problem is to remain an artist once we grow up." Well let me just say, that myself along with my students follow this everyday! I have managed to stay a kid myself and show that ART is a really an exciting journey that connects history and cultures from long ago to now! We start with a history time-line that takes us on an adventure from when the cavemen first roamed (and were the first to create the some of the most beneficial art!) the earth, to the discovery of the art in designing and making the Egyptians' sarcophagus', to Monet's dabs of paint forming the beautiful waterlillies to Picasso's misunderstood mixed up faces in his portraits, to Modern Art such as the glass, alien-like forms like that of Dale Chihuly. Phew! And that's just a glimpse of what we actually focus on in our art! What is art? Wanna find out? Then take a look at what we're studying on my blog!
