1st graders started the year with making a colorful crayon watercolor resist of Jasper Johns alphabet. We talked about (more like brushed up on & reviewed) how to properly use watercolor, watercolor brushes, and watercolor techniques. It's all about the water! That's what it's called 'watercolor'. the entire alpahbet alternating different colors of crayon, tracing over our letters. Pressing hard! Then it was time to use wet on wet watercolor technique, again alternating colors and RINSING inbetween! Yay clean watercolor pans!
